Here at The Adventure Park on Maui, we love our hometown of Lahaina, HI. When you visit Maui, a day in Lahaina is a must-do excursion. Here are some of our recommendations for a Lahaina day trip:
On your way into town, stop by the Maui Breakfast Food Truck for your first meal of the day. The food truck is a local staple in a great location with an amazing view, especially during Whale Season. The “home of the $5 breakfast” also serves local style breakfast plates, burritos, croissant sandwiches and more! Maui Breakfast Food Truck is located at the intersection of the Lahaina Bypass and Kai Hele Ku Street.
Once you’ve fueled yourself with a delicious breakfast, it’s time to hit Front Street in Lahaina, where you’ll explore the galleries and souvenir shops that line this famous road. If your are more of a beach-goer than a shopper, spend the morning at Baby Beach, a perfect option families with small kids.
But don’t forget to take in some local highlights like the Old Lahaina Prison. Located at 187 Prison Street, Hale Pa’ahao is a key landmark of historic Lahaina. You can tour the site or check out some of the music and movie events offered at the Old Prison.
Another can’t-miss landmark of Lahaina is the Banyan Tree. One of the country’s largest banyan trees, The Banyan Tree is located in front of the Lahaina Courthouse, adjacent to the Lahaina Harbor. Enjoy the cool shade of the tree, which takes up an entire city block and is over 60 feet high.
All of this sightseeing is sure to make you hungry again. It’s time to check out Down the Hatch, one of our favorite downtown Lahaina restaurants. This open air restaurant has been featured on the Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” and is famous for both it’s menu and it’s music.
Now it’s time to work off that lunch with a visit to our favorite Lahaina attraction… us! If you are looking for things to do with kids or are adults searching for a unique way to spend the afternoon, we can’t think of anything better than climbing and ziplining at The Adventure Park on Maui. Our family-friendly ziplines and various levels of climbing difficulty make our adventure park the idea place for anyone to experience outdoor adventure on Maui.
After your climb, we highly recommend that you head right next door to the Retail Store and Cafe for Maui Ku’ia Estate to grab a decadent chocolate milkshake or a tasting flight of their locally sourced chocolate. You’ll be there in the late afternoon, so you can enjoy their elevated patio with a view of the mountains, the ocean and The Adventure Park!
What’s the best way to end your day in Lahaina? A luau of course! The Myths of Maui Luau is just minutes away from The Adventure Park and located on the shores of West Maui in Lahaina. The luau experience is another can’t miss Maui event, with spectacular food, entertainment and a celebration of Hawaii’s culture.
