The Adventure Park is able to do what we do because we have an awesome team!  Here we get to know our Park Manager for The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum, Chris Moon.

What I love most about working at The Adventure Park
Two things…People….and Teaching. Whether you’re a customer or a visitor or a staff member, I want to make your day the best it can be. I was fortunate enough to have a few great teachers and I want to pass it on.

My Background:
In High School, I started teaching Aquatics at a Scout Camp. A few years later, we added a Climbing Tower and a Ropes Course. I enjoyed it so much that  I became a builder, trainer and inspector. I still work with the Scouts today. And at the Adventure Park, I get to watch and help hundreds of people every day.

My Favorite Course:
My favorite is one of our Blue Courses called Waterfall. It has numerous challenging events.

How I connect to our mission of promoting active enjoyment in the outdoors:
When I look around the park, it reminds me of a sign I saw once. It said “Future world and local leaders hard at work and play.” The Adventure Park gets to develop your comfort zone while enjoying the beauty and protection of the forest. My office consists of 5 acres of trees, platforms, cables, ropes…and happy people.

What I do when I am not at the Park:
I think about what I can do to improve the park.  I volunteer with the Scouts and I help coach Junior Olympic Gymnasts.

A Favorite Moment:
I was talking with a father and his 9 year old daughter about what course to do next. This girl looked up at me with an adorable smile and asked “Do you ever go on the course with random customers?”  How could I say “No” to that? so, I put on my harness and the three of us had a great time on Waterfall.
