If you’re looking for a family or friend getaway that’s equal parts adventure and exploration, we’ve mapped out an itinerary that takes you to each of our Northeast locations of The Adventure Park in just four days, along with suggested fun stops and food to enjoy. Along the way, you’ll soar through trees, explore museums, experience ocean beaches, hike in the area and discover local favorites. Bring your Adventure Park Passport with you at every stop to collect your stamps!

Before You Hit the Road

Before setting off on your adventure, take a moment to familiarize yourself with a few features and tips that are common to every Adventure Park.

• Aerial adventures: Each Park has aerial trails in the trees, and climbers maneuver from one tree platform to another, taking on challenges like bridges, ropes courses and ziplines.
• Color-coded trails: Parks have several trails that are color-coded according to difficulty, just like ski trails. A sign shows the trails around each Park entrance, so that climbers can plan their time. All trails begin at the Main Platform, and staffers can assist in choosing trails.
• Packing: The Ultimate Checklist will help you prepare for your visits, and our What to Wear blog focuses specifically on clothing and shoe attire.
• Book tickets online – You can reserve your preferred date and time online, and we highly recommend making reservations online before you go, especially on weekends and during peak season.
• Waivers: Everyone is required to fill out a waiver. Save time by filling it out online before you arrive, as it will help speed up check-in.  Each location has its own waiver.

Day 1: Ziplining on Long Island, NY

For the first day of your adventure, spend your morning climbing and ziplining through the trees at The Adventure Park at Long Island. Located in Wheatley Heights between the Long Island Expressway and the Southern State Parkway, the Park makes a great first stop on your Northeast road trip.

You’ll begin your visit with a safety briefing that will teach you how to use your safety equipment and navigate the aerial trails with confidence. And guess what? After your briefing, you can fill out an online form to become part of the Briefing Bypass Club, enabling you to skip the safety briefing for the rest of your road trip! Even better, visit an Adventure Park before your road trip begins, so you can breeze right through to the fun!

And don’t forget to bring your Park Passport to get a stamp!

Park Spotlight: The Adventure at Park Long Island is the largest of our Adventure Parks in the northeast! It boasts 200+ platforms, 14 trails and 49 ziplines for ages seven to adults.

After you’ve had your fill of ziplining, relax at a nearby beach, such as Robert Moses State Park, one of Long Island’s most iconic ocean beaches, with wide sandy shores and picnic areas. We recommend grabbing some fresh seafood or a classic lobster roll.

When you’re ready for some air conditioning, head back to the car and drive toward your next stop: Bridgeport.

Drive: Approximately 55 miles from Long Island to Bridgeport.

Day 2: Climbing and Ziplining Bridgeport, Connecticut

Take some time to sip your morning coffee, and then head out to The Adventure Park at the Discovery Museum. This Park is located within Fairfield County on five acres of trees behind The Discovery Museum. Assuming you’re now a member of the Briefing Bypass Club, you can now stroll right up to the main platform to begin your day!

Park Spotlight: What makes this Park unique is that it’s located at the Discovery Museum and Planetarium, so you can park your car once and spend the day in the same area! Inside the museum, you’ll find hands-on STEM exhibits, interactive science experiences and a planetarium, making it easy to turn your climbing adventure into a full day of family fun.

Once you’re ready to continue your day, visit The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, one of Connecticut’s top family attractions with sharks, seals, sea turtles and interactive exhibits.

Another option is to walk along the waterfront, play at Seaside Park or explore downtown. Enjoy a waterfront dinner or try some local pizza.

Next up? Storrs, Connecticut.

Drive: Approximately 75 miles from Bridgeport to Storrs.

Day 3: Our Ropes Course in Storrs, CT

After breakfast, drive to The Adventure Park at Storrs where a forest and peaceful woodland setting create a different kind of climbing experience. With winding trails through the forest and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy nature before continuing your journey.

Park Spotlight: This Park has a different feel because it’s surrounded by Connecticut woodlands and sits next to the University of Connecticut. It has a more relaxed, college-town feel than the coastal parks.

Speaking of, we recommend checking out UConn, where you can grab a much-deserved ice cream at the famous Dairy Bar (it’s famous throughout New England). If you still have some energy after that ice cream, explore a nearby hiking trail. Nipmuck Trail has several trailheads near Storrs or Mansfield Hollow State Park offers easy trails around the reservoir. After dinner, take a scenic drive toward Cape Cod.

Drive: Approximately 135 miles from Storrs to Sandwich, Massachusetts (Cape Cod).

Day 4: Cape Cod Climbing Finale

By the time you arrive on Cape Cod, you’ve earned the grand finale. The Adventure Park at Heritage Museums & Gardens combines treetop adventure with one of the region’s most beloved cultural attractions, making it the perfect way to wrap up your road trip.

Once you’ve had your fill of the Park and museum, we’d suggest one last scenic detour to one of the many lighthouses in the area, like Nobska Light. Or if you’re ready for some indoor time, check out the Whydah Pirate Museum, Cape Cod’s only interactive museum featuring real pirate treasures.
